Auto Approve – not working

HI,
I have set up way for the employees of my company to request to attend an event. The ticket information for the events is hidden. When the manager “approves” the employee to attend the event, I go in and add register the employee to the event within Event Espresso manually. I have the auto-approval set to YES. I thought this would automatically approve any new registration I add to an event and trigger the automated email I had set up. But, the approvals do not seem to be automatically approved. Once I add an employee to an event, I then have to go back into registration and change them from not approved to approved. Is there more than one place for me to set auto approve?

Hi there,

Which auto-approve setting are you referring to? The waitlist promotion setting?

How are attendees being ‘approved’ by a ‘manager’?

Do they not register onto the event themselves at all?

It sounds like most your above process is outside of Event Espresso, then your adding a registrant manually onto an event that has a default registration status of ‘Not Approved’ but expecting it to be something else (in this case Approved).

I am referring to the Default Registration Status in the Default Settings tab in Espresso Events > Events. I create an event and hide the ticket information. In the event, I place a Gravity Form that the learner fills out and the form emails their manager for approval. Their manager forwards the email from the form to me if they approve the request. I go into the event in Event Espresso and manually add the learner to the event. Since the Default Registration Status is set to “approved”, I had assumed that when I add someone, their status would automatically be approved. But after adding them, their status shows as “not approved”. Is there somewhere besides the Default Settings where I should be setting the default approval setting?

Hi,

The setting in the Default settings tab will apply any new events you add. If you have existing events where their status is set to “Not Approved”, you can go in and edit the existing event and change its Default Registration Status.
