From the barcode scanner page (https://eventespresso.com/product/eea-barcode-scanner/) it looks like the Attendee Lookup option is supposed to allow you to type and search an attendee’s name to find them (step 3). However, when I use this, I get a message saying the registration code I entered was not a valid registrant. Is look-up by name no longer available or does this need to be enabled somewhere?
That documentation is incorrect and I’ll get it updated.
There are 4 different modes within the Barcode scanner add-on.
‘Look-up attendee’ allows you to scan a barcode, look up the attendee and check them in manually.
‘Continuous scanning’ allows you to scan a barcode and it will automatically check the attendee in OR out when you scan.
‘Continuous Check-in only’ allows you to scan a barcode and will automatically check-in the user if the ticket is valid and they are NOT already checked in.
‘Keyword look-up’ allows you to enter a string and search the event registrations for matches in the admin, for example entering the attendee’s name should show a list of registrations (if any) for the event in the same way navigating to Dashboard -> Event Espresso -> Events -> {hover over event} -> Registrations and entered the name in the search field.
We do not currently have a ‘front end’ attendee lookup by name function.
Thank you, Tony. Since I am still fairly new to WordPress and Event Espresso, I was thinking I might have missed an option to enable this somewhere. I see that that wasn’t the case. I really appreciate your explanation and help.
