for the scan process we did install Application Passwords and want to do what is given with the tutorial. It turns out, that there is nothing shown if i want to apply this to a user.
Anyway – I do not understand what specific deal this is for the smartphone app. Isn´t a password a password, no matter how it is named? The user has already a password, so what?
I cannot follow the logic here… and why the tutorial is showing a process which is not there for me. How to apply this to a user and does this user have to be admin or something else? There is simply no content as shown on screenshot, nowhere on the user profile page…
THX – but this seems unlogic. How can I login to a users account, who does already exist on the platform?
All I know is, i can manage users as an admin, but i never know passwords of users to set them up as want I want here to do, assisstant for scanning…
If i have to tell a user that he should go to his profile to add a new pass for scanning, everybody can or has to do this himself?
We actually don’t develop the Application Passwords plugin, but I can let you know that you can use the User Switching plugin to switch to another user account.
O.k. i see… but the whole thing is getting more and more complicated and not very useful in case somethings has crashed. We will never get all this setups back to life…
It might help to explain that Application Passwords is best used in cases where you have 1 user account and you want to grant several different people their own unique passwords for that 1 user account. For example, you can set up 1 “ticket-scanner” account, then give out 5, 10, 15 passwords for that account. Then you can also later on revoke any of those passwords.
