Hi, |
Hi there, We’ll need more information to help. May I ask at what point does the app crash? For example, doe it crash on the log in page, when it loads up events, when it loads up a registration list, or when it scans a ticket? |
Hi, On log in page. It gives me loading after that the second the event page appears it crashes. |
You can install this plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-rest-api-log/ Then capture the errors it logs when you try to log into the app in the WordPress > Tools > REST API log page. |

OK that’s a common issue where the Authorization headers don’t get passed to the apps and is caused by the server. You can fix this by following this guide: |
Thank you for your reply 1. I followed this steps 1. I added SetEnvIf Authorization “(.*)” HTTP_AUTHORIZATION=$1 |
When did you download WP API Basic Authentication? That shouldn’t be necessary and may be causing some issues. We can investigate further if you can complete the form on this secure page: |
I completed the form. Thank you |
Hi there, It looks like the form wasn’t completely filled out. Can you resend and be sure to complete the part where it asks for FTP credentials? |
Done |
Thanks, we’ll check those. Are you making any changes to the site at the moment? The reason I ask is because all of a sudden the backend is trying to load as https, but your site doesn’t appear to have an SSL certificate. |
Yes my site has SSL certificate. And the reason is I am trying to make it load because I got a new message from the app “Your data is not secured” |
Whatever you changed with respects to https appears to have broken the WP dashboard, and the FTP credentials you sent are not valid. We can take a look at this later if you can get the WP dashboard working again and if you can re-send the FTP credentials with verified information. The message from the app about SSL isn’t relevant because your site has the Application Passwords plugin activated. |

Hi, |
May I ask how does one force an SSL Certificate? |
I don’t know as I told you I have SSL certificate but somehow it was not showing. I contacted my hosting company and they told me that they fore it. |
Whatever your hosting company did, it’s breaking things because for example if I try to go to the wp-login.php page of your site, it returns a 404 not found error now. Can you contact them and ask them to fix? |
i contacted them now the website is working and I also sent a login info. Please help my event is after tomorrow |
As far as I can tell the apps seem to work okay when I log in with my iPad. You’ll need to make sure that you type in https://yourdomain.com (the s in the https:// is important now) when you enter the credentials into the app. https://www.evernote.com/l/AAQsQgMY5vZJ1Y_HniHLVIEAB0RLtHL1MoY |

Thank you for your help. Somehow it worked so to help the others here what I did |
If you run into any problems with logging in with the apps in the future, you might also try deactivating the basic authentication plugin that’s activated on your site because it may cause a conflict with the basic authentication that’s bundled into Event Espresso for the apps. |
