Hi guys, |
Hi there, There’s actually a problem with holding tickets only for real paid registrations: Your events will oversell if two or more registrations-in-progress try to get the last spot. To solve that problem, Event Espresso has a Ticket reservation feature that temporarily reserves a ticket for a transaction in progress for up to 1 hour. After that 1 hour has passed and they do not pay, the tickets get released back into the inventory, and you do not need to delete anything. If you have a few stuck reservations where transactions were deleted while they were in progress, you can go to Event Espresso > Maintenance > Reset, and you click on the button that says: Reset Ticket and Datetime Reserved Counts |

awesome, that fixed it temporarily, however, it seems like it hadn’t released our stuck registrations since Jan or Feb. We had teachers that were showing sold out for 8 spots when they hadn’t even gotten a purchase. Can I turn that feature off? Due to the slow visits on our site, I’d much rather have people over purchase a ticket than have students see sold out classes and our teachers lose sales. In that case, for technical issues, we then have to pay the lost revenue for the teachers. Any thoughts on how to turn it off? |

actually not quite there, I have a registration “Intensive Class” at Wingate Hotel, https://www.kopabirth.com/atlanta-ga-classes/ It says 4 spaces remaining, but in the back end it says 8 sold, 5 registrations approved. There are 8 spots in total, so it should read 3 spaces remaining (8 possible -5 approved =3 open). When I put Ticket Quantity at 8, it says sold out. So I put it at 11 to give me 3 extra, and the page says Spaces remaining “6”, so I put it down to 9 so it wouldn’t say sold out and it says “4” spaces remaining. Kind of driving me nuts. any ideas? |
If you view the Approved registrations for that event, how many are there in total? You can view the registrations for that specific event by clicking the ‘Approved registrations’ link in the ‘Update Event’ metabox – http://take.ms/0MWRF Any customizations made to EE? For example allow users to cancel registrations etc? |

Are you referring to this event? |

That one seems to be working fine now, however, having the same issue now with https://www.kopabirth.com/events/intensive-jc-5-17/ It should have 5 total spots, there are 3 approved registrations listed in the space that Tony mentioned, but if I keep the ticket Qty at 5, it says sold out on the registration page and table (April 1st clarkston, GA location) table is at https://www.kopabirth.com/atlanta-ga-classes/. I deleted reset date/time data and deleted my cache. BTW I have caching for WT3 and Cloudflare. I’ve added no caching for the EE pages as described in several posts on line for both WT3 and Cloudflare. I’ve turned off Varnish for Bluehost. Any other ideas? BTw, I am going to change that particular event noted above back to 6, so it is open even if the open set count is off. |
What payment method(s) are you using on the site? Also just to note you have output from the ‘WP Asset CleanUp’ plugin being sent to the bottom of pages currently – http://take.ms/ycvLi I’m not sure if you are currently working on that or not but thought you’d want to know. |

yes, we had a plugin conlfict with another plugin and Event Espresso, which is why Lorenzo installed it for us. Is it messing things up? Secondly, we;re using authorize.net sim and basic paypal. That wouldn;t affect classes showing up as different counts than the backened shows though would it? |
Not that I can tell but I’ll check into the history of this with Lorenzo shortly.
It depends what is happening on the site to do it.
Can you take a screenshot of the datetime/ticket field so I can see this please? Or if preferred send temporary login details using THIS FORM and I’ll take a look at the event. |

Hey Tony, I submitted a priority support token Monday with this initial post in which I included FTP and website access for Event Espresso folks, but realized I might have used a different email address than my account with this. it’s “supportatkopabirth.com”. Can you use the login info from that? If not, I can resubmit. |
Hi there, One thing that will definitely help is you can switch over to use the PayPal Express option instead of using PayPal Standard. The problem we saw with the PayPal Standard option was it would sometimes count 1 sale as 2, and that’s what happened on the intensive-gk-apr-17 class. I was able to reset the Sold counts for the intensive-gk-apr-17 class, and I can do the same for the intensive-jc-5-17 class too. Going forward the solution will be to switch over to the PayPal Express option. You can use your same PayPal account, and you can get set up with the PayPal Express option by following this guide: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/paypal-express-payment-gateway/#locate |

OK just set up express. Thanks for the help there. Back to an earlier question, can I cancel or remove the feature that holds the ticket for 1 hours after people click register? If so, how or if I have any time left on the support token, could you get into my site and make the change for me? |
No the feature that reserves a ticket for up to 1 hour cannot actually be removed, even with a support token. That’s not even what was causing the problem on your website. It was the PayPal Standard gateway’s counting 2 sales instead of 1 that was causing the problem. |

Ok. Sounds good and that makes sense. Last question is more of commentary than a question. If it is a known issue that PayPal Standard gateway counts 2 sales instead of 1, why is it offered still? and I don’t remember seeing any caution or warning about it causing EE to count 2 sales instead of 1 when folks use it. I don’t remember seeing any warning. We had a teacher for whom we’ll need to reimburse $250 for lack of class participation because folks couldn’t sign up for her classes when she actually had open spaces. Was a pretty big deal for us. Thanks. |

And lastly, sorry, you can consider this resolved. All questions were answer and was taken care of . Thanks guys. |
I’m sorry you had problems with PayPal Standard, the issue with counting double sales is a fairly new issue we’ve uncovered. In EE version 4.9.17.p we introduced PayPal Express in place of PayPal Standard, if you already use PayPal Standard EE continues to show it in as an available payment method but new installs no longer do. The reason for the switch was to move away from PayPals IPN’s which have become more and more unreliable over time, our implementation of PayPal Express does not use the IPN so its considered more reliable than standard but the switch was not related to the above issue (although it does appear to be caused by IPNs). As your now using express you should no longer see the above issue on your events. |
