Add tickets from second event while registering for first event.

Great product, my client is quite happy with how things are going so far.

Is there a way to add tickets from a second event to the price of the current event? That is, on the registration page for the main event have a question that asks how many tickets, if any, the would like to add for a second event (in this case the main event is a conference, and the second event is a gala dinner). Ideally the user could select the number of tickets they want for the dinner, hit submit, and then on the confirmation page they would see one ticket purchased for the conference at $800, and three tickets purchased for the gala dinner at $125 each.

I’ve used the price modification plugin and it successfully adds to the price of the conference event, but my client would like those prices separated by event on the registration confirmation page, and also so they’ll appear as separate items when they pay on PayPayl.

I code php all day long, so if it’s a matter of getting my hands dirty on code that’s not a problem – I just need to know what to modify and where.

Thanks!

Hi,

I’m not sure this meets your needs exactly, but have you considered the Multiple Event Registration (MER) add on?

MER allows you to add multiple events to cart, from there the user can select the number of tickets required for each event.

Of course the gala dinner would need to be created as a separate event.

Hi Dean,

Thanks for your reply. I did originally look into the MER plugin but wasn’t quite sure how to proceed with it. I currently use the Member plugin and some custom code I found to create a user upon registration, all of which works properly. Can you tell me if I’d be able to use the MER add-on to add events to a cart even if the user isn’t created until after they click ‘submit’?

I do have the gala dinner already configured as a separate event that users can currently register for separate from the main event, but I was hoping to streamline the process 🙂

Thanks!

Hi,

“Can you tell me if I’d be able to use the MER add-on to add events to a cart even if the user isn’t created until after they click ‘submit’?”

Well, if you are using the code that Seth made, the users are created when the attendee is created which is at the confirmation page, so while I haven’t tested it, it still should work with MER.

I understand about the streamlining, that’s what we are hoping 4.0 does well, but until that’s released (no time scale as yet) this may be your best option.
