I have EE3. We have people that are registering for an event as one tier (lower price) who are supposed to be registering at the higher tier. When we ask them to pay the additional amount, we would like to be able to resend the invoice, have them click the link, and then pay the extra $15 that they owe. However, when we do this, it doesn’t seem to take into account that they’ve already paid ‘x’ amount (it prompts them to pay the entire amount due, not just the difference). Any suggestions? Thank you! |
Hi Carlyn, Whilst EE3 will allow you to update the payment information at any time, it does not support partial payments which would be required for these payments. Can I ask which payment methods are you using for these? |

Hi Tony, We use authorize.net as our merchant. I did figure out how to update the price after the fact. It event tells me that they customer has paid $25, for instance, and still owes $15 (after I update the invoice from $25 to $40). When I look at the invoice, it reflects this as well. The problem is when I click on ‘pay invoice online’ it prompts me to pay the entire $40 instead of the $15 balance due. Is this something that EE4 supports? We are in the process of upgrading. Thank you! |
This is where partial payments would be needed. EE would need to track the initial payment and apply the second payment to the registration, the payment amounts and payment owed are calculated on the total cost and total paid, payments making these values up need to be tracked and stored, which is currently not available in EE3.
Currently EE4 does not allow you to alter the prices of tickets within a registration. You can apply manual payments to a registration, for example if your ticket = $100, the attendee can send a $50 deposit via bank transfer or cheque. You can then apply this amount to the transaction and the attendee can pay the remainder off using one of the online payment methods. However they would need to be registered onto the correct ticket to begin with. We do have a feature request ticket to allow alterations to ticket prices within a registration, I will add this thread to that ticket. |
