When we try to login to our site (fjmclinics.com) from the Event Espresso HD app, we get a 403 forbidden error. I’ve reviewed some posts on this but not been able to resolve. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Hi Jay, Have you got the JSON API addon installed? If not, install it please. If yes, then please make sure that these settings are set: API Session Timeout After = ideally anything higher than 1 minute. I usually set this to Never. Allow Public API Access? = Allow Default Query Limits = make sure there are values set for Events (default 50), Attendees (default 100) and Registrations (default 100). The “Allow Public API Access?” being allow is vitally important for using the mobile app. |

yes – this is all setup as shown above |
Hi Jay, Are you using an administrator account with the app or another? Within the ‘Blog URL’ field as you just using “fjmclinics.com”? Which plaform are you using? iOS or Android? |
|
|
iOS Yes, using fjmclinics.com as the url |
|
Also, logging in as admin |
Do you have any special characters within the password? #, !, ?, &, / etc Could you create a temporary account for us to test a log in with? If so please send login details using this form: |

Hi Jay, Do you have any special characters within your password? I had no problems logging in with those credentials you’ve sent, could you try those and confirm if they work for yourself? |

There are no special characters in my password or yours. I just reset your password and tested it and it worked fine. Username is the same. Password is ***redacted***

Hi Jay, There might be a server configuration that’s not allowing the underscore in the user name. You could also check with WP Engine support to see if there is anything being logged when you get that 403 error. This will help us to investigate. |

I tried setting up a new username without the underscore and get the same 403 error. Any other suggestions? I don’t’ see anything in our log file with wpengine related to the 403 but am asking their server admins about it. |

I noticed this loads fine: redacted – Event Espresso support team – LOC Does that indicate that the server is blocking the app from accessing it? Anything specific I should tell our host to whitelist? |
Hi Jay, I’ve run some testing using the information that you shared with us and I may have found a possible cause. I’ll reply to your email with more information. — |
