we are having an issue with registration forms where if a zip code in the address field starts with a zero ‘0’, the submitted registration form only show the next 4 digits. i get why it would happen on a number field, but this is a text field.

Hi,
This sounds like it may be the result of a plugin/theme conflict. I just checked one of our testing sites and the zero wasn’t trimmed from the form submission.
May I ask can you share a link to the event on your site where this is happening so we can investigate further?

Hi,
Can you go to Event Espresso > Registration Form > Questions, then edit the field for Zip Code? Now to be clear, you have at least 2 Zip code fields and the one that needs to be changed to a text field is the “Zip Code” question. The “Zip/Postal Code” question is OK.
Here’s a screenshot that includes the source that indicates the “Zip Code” question is actually set to be a number field type (not text field type).
