Zero price tickets

We use Event Espresso to provide tickets to both members and non-members. The member tickets are zero value where non-members pay a certain amount. We have a problem where non-members choose the member ticket and because the ticket is zero value their registration is auto-approved where non-member tickets, being subject to a cost, are pending until payment is received. When a person chooses a member ticket we need to validate their membership so the ticket registration should also pending until the delegate’s membership is checked. How can I make sure that zero value tickets are not automatically approved?

How are you today?

Do your members log into your website? If so, with the WP User Integration add-on you can set a capability that is required for member tickets: https://eventespresso.com/product/eea-wp-user-integration/

There is not a way to set the default registration status on a per-ticket basis. You could set the default registration status to Not Approved for all tickets and then approve them all as they come in.
