I just uninstalled a very old version of EE (2.X) and then tried installing the latest version (Event Espresso 4 Core Regular v4.6.17.p) however something is not right (I did not install the other addons yet, just the core). I don’t seem to have an Event Espresso menu (so I can’t get to the Maintenance page) and when I try to access the following links (Step 2 and 3) from the reactivation page:

Step 1: Visit your Organization Settings and add/update your details.

Step 2: Setup your Payment Methods.

Step 3: Create your First Event.

I get the following error:

“You do not have access to this route.”

I did read the forum posts that were related to this error, but I can’t seem to fix this. I have tried uninstalling EE4 a couple of times, turning off ALL my plugins and re-installing. I have verified my requirements here:

https://eventespresso.com/requirements/

and it all looks good.

I am logged in as an administrator.

It seems that the solution is to reset the database using the Event Espresso > Maintenance menu, but I can’t seem to get to that menu at all, so I’m not sure how to reset this.

I could really use some help here.

Hi Tom, did you manually install Event Espresso 4 by overwriting the old files?

If so, could you deactivate Event Espresso and any other add-ons and then delete the Event Espresso core folder through SFTP or FTP?

Then download a new copy from your account page and try another install through WordPress admin –> Plugins –> Add New.

Hi Tom,

This should help and you can try it before re-installing if you’d like:
1) you copy what’s on the next line:
/wp-admin/admin.php?page=espresso_maintenance_settings

2) and paste to the end of your site’s url in your browser’s address bar. This way you’ll end up on:
http://yoursite.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=espresso_maintenance_settings

3) Then you click on the Reset/Delete Data tab, the click on the Reset Event Espresso Capabilities button

This will clear out any old capabilities your old install may have had.

Accessing this directly:

http://yoursite.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=espresso_maintenance_settings

Enabled me to reset the capabilities, and then I was able to see the Event Espresso menus!!!!

Thanks that worked!
