I have not found anything in the documentation in regards to the option of The way this is worded, it sounds like when a user is registering for an event that they will be prompted with the default WP user registration page, yet, in my case, the user was simply created and emailed a link to change their password. What is the expected behavior if this option is made use of? |
Hi there, That option is related to the ‘Force Login for registrations?’ option so I’ll need to mention that one first. The WP User integration add-on has an option to force login for registrations, which means in order to register onto an event you need to be logged in. This is what the user will see if they try to register onto an event that has the ‘Force Login for registrations?’ option set to Yes and they are not logged in: https://monosnap.com/file/7vzXC4MBNHIjAORM5rTy4KSKol0oFu It’s asking for a username and password, but what if the user does not have an account? We need some way to link them to whichever method you are using to create users, so we include a link to register onto the site but only if your site has the ‘anyone can register’ option set in the WP Settings. Next, where should that link go? You may be using the default WP User registration page and that is exactly what EE will use by default but then if you are using a custom registration page we need some way to link the user to that rather than the default page, that is what the above option is for. It changes that link to whatever you have set in the options. To answer you questions about using a MailPoet Form and creating a WP User, its simply a link to a page, once the user clicks that link EE does nothing else until they return to the checkout page. So no, you can’t use a MailPoet form and have EE create the user account, it needs to be a registration form which creates the WP User account outside of EE.
That means you are not forcing login for registrations using the option above, but you are using the ‘Auto Create users with registrations?’ option. That option takes the First Name, Last Name and Email address fields from the primary regitrant and creates a WP user account from those details without the user needing to manually create an account themselves. So what you mentioned above is the expected behaviour, the EE Registration generated a WP User account for the logged out user, linked their EE_Contact to that WP User account, logged them in and then sent them to the payment options page. |
