I’m the admin for my site. After the latest update, when I attempt to create a new Page, it’s as if I have a lesser role (subscriber, or contributor perhaps). Trying to add new events is the same – the button ‘Submit for Review,’ but I can’t actually create any new events (Submit for Review also doesn’t work).

Separately, our ‘People’ EE plugin isn’t working correctly. The main page of all our people is fine:
https://duluthfolkschool.com/people/

But on any individual page, the frames are goofed up, and at the bottom of the page, it describes that there’s a critical error:
https://duluthfolkschool.com/people/julie-allen-instructor/

I’m hopeful this newest patch will fix these. I’m submitting this report to ensure that you were aware of these issues.

Thanks.

Nope. Just updated to 4.10.17, and those two problems still exist.

Hi there,

After the latest update, when I attempt to create a new Page, it’s as if I have a lesser role (subscriber, or contributor perhaps). Trying to add new events is the same – the button ‘Submit for Review,’ but I can’t actually create any new events (Submit for Review also doesn’t work).

Is this happening on a WP Page (Dashboard -> Pages) or an EE Event (Dashboard -> Event Espresso -> Events)?

But on any individual page, the frames are goofed up, and at the bottom of the page, it describes that there’s a critical error:
https://duluthfolkschool.com/people/julie-allen-instructor/

Hmm, I can’t reproduce this on my test sites so I’ll need the error being logged there to investigate.

If you visit the above page, then check your servers error logs does it show a ‘fatal error’ listed?

Or, add this to your site’s wp-config.php file:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/troubleshooting-checklist/#wpdebug

That tells the site to log the errors in a file I can access on the site to check.

– The inability to post new EE events (or other WP pages) is happening on both dashboards (WP and WP/EE).

– I’ve added that bit of code to our wp-config php file.

Update:
– The inability to post new events or other WP pages has resolved itself. Not clear what changed.

– The Critical Error problem on the ‘People’ section remains.

The inability to post new events or other WP pages has resolved itself. Not clear what changed.

That issue is weird, the fact that it happens to pages etc outside of Event Espresso means it likely isn’t related to EE at all.

I’m glad it’s now working for you but I’ve been reviewing the changes to see if anything could have possibly caused it but we don’t alter permission on user accounts (which is the only thing I can think of that would cause the above) so in short, I have no idea how that could have happened.

The Critical Error problem on the ‘People’ section remains.

Thank you, so whats happening there is your site’s theme is loading a custom template for the people output and its throwing a fatal error.

It could be related to changes in how we load EE objects in the background but to know for sure I’ll need to checkout the template the theme is loading.

Can you send me a copy of the theme so I can load it up locally? You can sent it to support[at]eventespresso.com if possible.
