Previously asked question below and was told EE3 would meet needs. Just doing another check to make sure nothing has changed AND to find out if EE4 would work with this project? Need to be able to: List courses which vary in length/duration e.g. 2 days to 6 weeks. Allow courses/course types to be colour coded. List the same course with different start/finish dates (preferably so that the course details and all course dates are listed together (not as separate events). Add and edit courses, course descriptions, set dates and duration of courses, and set the number of places per course. Choose course from available dates/times. Making a payment to secure the slot(s). Automatically inform the client that a place has been booked and payment received. Employ a “scarcity” tactic by emphasizing that places are becoming limited e.g. the number turns amber then red depending on the criteria set. Collect customer emails and have the ability to send targeted email campaigns to customers (using filters like courses purchased, similar or complementary products etc). Front end of site in multiple languages. Thanks, Elaine |

ALSO, just trying EE4 demo and have setup the same course for different dates e.g. course starts on Sept 24, Oct 5 etc. If someone wants to register for the Oct 5 course is this possible as the dmeo seems to just allow booking for the earliest date whether you go through the Events page or Calendar. |
Hi Elaine, You would need Event Espresso 3 as it supports the multiple registration add-on. WPML (multiple languages) is not currently supported in Event Espresso 3 or Event Espresso 4. — |

September 25, 2014 at 12:59 am Hi Lorenzo, Is there a way to give the Events page list of Events a short summary so people can see what an event is about before clicking through to the individual event page? Thanks, Elaine |
|
Hi, The easiest way to do that in EE3 is by inserting the MORE tag into the event description. In EE4 you can use the Excerpt section to add a short description. For this to work, you need to change General Settings > Templates tab > Display Description to show the Excerpt. |
|
Hi Dean, So just to confirm – on the Events Registration page (http://testdrive.eventespresso.com/) you can add a tag that will show a short description (excerpt) for each event (along with title, price, date, spaces) before the site visitor clicks through to an individual event page? |
|
Hi, In EE3, if you have a description in the event and add the MORE tag, whatever is above that description will be shown. I forgot to add that the “Display short descriptions in the event listings?” option in the Template Settings, needs to be set to Yes. |
|
Hi Dean, Sorry I’m still not sure what you mean above – was that a Yes, you can have a short description in the Events List in EE3 and a longer description in the individual Event page listing? |
Hi Elaine, Yes you can have a short description on the Event List, and a full description on the Registration page. However on the event list page, Event Espresso will display all the event description up until the ‘More…’ tag, which you will need to manually place within the description to tell EE to stop. For example, here is an event from my event list – http://take.ms/fRRmX Notice it displays the full event description. Now if I edit the event and add in the More tag (using the WP Editor) – http://take.ms/8tOVx Update the event and refresh the event list page, this is the outcome – http://take.ms/s04pp On the event list page, it stopped at the more tag, the registration page, still shows the full description. Does that help? |

Hi Tony, Yes thanks – that makes it very clear 🙂 Thank you for your help (and patience). |
No problem at all Elaine 🙂 If you have any further questions just let us know. |
