I am having a hard time trying to get some widgets to work, and I suspect it is to do with my custom theme, which I think is not a responsive theme.
What complications are there if I change to a standard theme, and is there a way to do this in a development space through EE or do I need to talk to my host? Is there a way for me to play with themes without it screwing with our live site?
Changing theme shouldn’t really complicate anything, though I would advise backing up your site as a precaution (plus you can use the backup to create a development site).
We don’t provide development space, but most hosts will allow subdomains (e.g. development.yoursite.com or yoursite.com/development), or you can use one of the many offline servers (Desktop Server by Serverpress is an easy one to use, and it’s free for 3 installs).
Magic, thanks Dean. The Theme Test Drive is great, surreal, but great!
Now, following on from this and my previous query on using an iFrame, is there a way to widen a column, or the layout, of only 1 page?
The page I’m embedding with the iFrame is quite wide, wider than I’ll probably need for a normal page, so it’d be good if I can set the layout for this page as wider than normal pages.
If it makes a difference the Parabola theme is the front runner at the moment.
The widget issue was with the old theme, now that I’m experimenting with other themes it seems to be fine.
So, I think, as suspected, it was my old theme that was fixed wdith.
