Honest question: why should I upgrade? I understand that 4.x is the new version and 3.x will no longer be improved. But is there a reason I should upgrade if 3.x seems to do what I want?

Hi there,
It turns out that 3.1 while will continue to receive minor improvements, EE4 (currently in beta) has most of the development activity going on.
The answer may be you should not upgrade right now. As of right now, we recommend staying on version 3 if it meets your needs. Along with that, if you’re using some of Event Espresso 3’s features like promo codes, we recommend staying with version 3 until EE4 has the equivalent feature set.

Hi Dylan,
If you are happy with EE3 and it suites your requirements then there is no reason not to continue using it. Eventually we would like EE4 to support all the features of EE3 (and more), at the point, the question will be why not upgrade?
Currently EE3 and EE4 have different feature sets so for some users EE3 is the right choice.
