Hi,

We are going to be deploying EE on a site for a client (they run a series of cooking classes) within the next few weeks after trying the ‘lite’ version.

What I am confused about it EE3 vs EE4 and which type of license.

So my questions are –

Are we better off buying EE4 or EE3? (EE4 Will give us the feature set we want and we don’t want to have to redo everything if we start with EE3 and move to EE4 if its included in EE3 Purchase).

Which license of EE4 or EE3 should we purchase especially as there isn’t a business EE4 license and its only going to be rolled out to one site?

Thanks

Hi Jon,

EE4 is the preferred option, as going forward that will be come the main version.

That being said, it does depend on your needs in the here and now. EE3 obviously has a wealth of features and addons available, while EE4 has features EE3 doesn’t but also has less addons currently (we are rolling them out as soon as they are ready!).

This article has a good run down of the main differences between the two – https://eventespresso.com/2014/02/event-espresso-4-beta-officially-released/

I would also recommend checking out the demo of EE4 to get a clearer idea of if the feature set is suitable. Sign up here http://demoee.org

Licence wise, again it’s dependant on the features you need, but the Business licence for EE3 is a very good choice. For EE4, the core plugin and the addons are sold separately so you can pick and choose what you need.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.
