I see the notice directing me to the Your Organization page but there is no field to enter the license key. Where can I enter it for automatic updates?

Hello there,

When you click on General Settings under Event Espresso, you should see a “Your Organization” tab. You should see the license key field at the top of the page.

Perhaps a screenshot will help: https://slack-files.com/T02SY781D-F090KTYLU-5de980b977

Does that help?

Nope – that field is missing. I probably would have noticed it when I went to the page if it was there.

Is this a multisite installation? If so, then that field will only appear in the main site’s settings.

We do not currently support fully automatic updates of EE on multisite officially. However, the way it is setup is that in order to get automatic updates, you must have EE network activated. Then the license key field will appear on the main site for the primary network (if this is not only a multisite but multi-network install). Automatic updates will then be possible from the main network admin.

Does that make sense?

Yep, it’s a multisite install. Got it network activated & was able to enter the license key from the main site – thanks!

Hi,

Just a bit of a heads of, there is a gotcha to be aware of when using EE4 within a Multisite environment in that the license key field may appear blank, then when saving you save a blank field.

Currently you need to ensure your license key is within that field when saving the general setting on the main site or EE will save without a license key and show a notice stating such.

How exactly do I upgrade? The license is for a domain that’s one of the subsites but all upgrades occur from the main site.

With WP Multisite, like any other WP plugin, you run the update on the Network admin > Plugins page.

It didn’t work that way, thus my asking. In any case, I have to network deactivate because my resource usage for the cPanel account went through the roof. I’ll just update EE manually moving forward. Thanks for your help!
