The popup calendar does not allow any other date to be selected, and the calendars do not disappear after clicking off of them.

Hi natex3000,

This type of issue is usually caused by a plugin or theme conflict. Can you follow the troubleshooting guide outlined here?

Thank you, you were correct. There appears to be a conflict with the WooCommerce Pre-Orders plugin. Now that it’s deactivated, the calendar works again.

The reason I was trying to use the WooCommerce Pre-Orders plugin was to allow people to register for these events, but be prompted to pay later. Should I open this in another ticket?

The WooCommerce Pre-Orders plugin doesn’t actually add the ability to allow people to register for Event Espresso events and be prompted to pay later. You can activate the pay by Invoice option in Event Espresso > Payment Settings and they’ll be able to pay later.

Is there anything that will allow customers to enter payment information now, and be charged later? Sometimes our events get cancelled, so it’s better to charge right before the event, rather than issuing refunds after the charges were made.

Thanks for the help by the way Josh! Do you know if WooCommerce Deposits plugin could work?

To do that you would either need to store the users credit card information (which is a big no and asking for trouble) or use a payment method that supports auth and capture request separately but even then its not something EE supports so would also require custom development.

Sometimes our events get cancelled, so it’s better to charge right before the event, rather than issuing refunds after the charges were made.

Whilst it may be inconvenient to have to refund the payments, it’s the safest option for both you (the event admin) and the registrant.

Work how?

To answer your question, no, none of the Woo plugins will work with the Event Espresso checkout as they are completely different systems.

One option you can use to collect registration data only now, then later process the payment right before the event is you can set the Default Registration status to “Not Approved”. Then you can use the messages system to send out a payment reminder email closer to the actual event date after there’s no chance of cancellation.

Yes, that is a good solution and one to which I may return. The disadvantage is not having the payment commitment of the user, and depending on them to pay later. Without paying anything initially, they don’t have any skin in the game.

Then you might consider the option to take the payment right away and if the need arises to cancel the event offer some kind of refund or credit.

Yes, that’s the other option. Thanks!
