Im having the same problem as this guy:
https://eventespresso.com/topic/preventauto-purge-abandonedincomplete-registrations/

And I too have statuses marked as Pending – should I change that to Approved? What changes if I do this -I don’t really understand what will happen if I change it to approved (other than it looks like it will fix the issue mentioned in that post) What else will it do? I’m nervous to change it without fully understanding the business logic of why there are two options.

Thanks,
Shelly

Hi Shelly,

Event Espresso 4 sets the default registration status to Pending Payment, then when someone pays -or- it’s a free event, the status of the registration is switched to Approved.

If you change an event’s default registration status to Approved, then when someone registers and they don’t pay for the ticket, it will reserve a spot for them and it will not be as easy to tell who has paid, and who hasn’t paid.

Back to the issue at hand though, when someone registers for an event, and their registration status stays at Pending Payment, does your organization use that info to follow up to see if they had trouble with paying, or possibly see if they’re still interested in attending the class?

Not typically – but my client is finding it frustrating to delete these un-completed registrations. I thought that changing the status to Approved might be a solution. She gets a lot of these for whatever reason and they are currently triggering a spot reduction in her classes. Sounds like that is not supposed to be happening, right?

Hi,

Where are you changing the Default Registration Status?

There is a global setting and a per event setting, however changing the Global setting does not alter the per event setting for your current events, only new ones.

So are you changing the status within Event Espresso -> Events -> Default Settings – http://take.ms/fjfmi

Or within the event itself – http://take.ms/Icm3h

She gets a lot of these for whatever reason and they are currently triggering a spot reduction in her classes.

It sounds like for at least one of the events the default registration status is already set to Approved. Can you check within the events themselves to see what it is set to?

Most users need ‘Pending Payment’.

No – it was a class that was set to Payment Pending! And our global setting is also set to Payment Pending… She’s already deleted them or else I’d send you login credentials and show you… I’ll ask her to alert me next time this happens.

Hi Shelly,

When the default registration status is set to Pending Payment, it doesn’t hold a spot in the class until they’ve paid.

I didn’t think so but my client thinks it does. I’ve asked her to leave it alone next time she sees this happening…so maybe we can take a closer look at what she’s talking about. Thanks Josh!
