Once a year, I run a weekend-long convention. I sell memberships, and once you’ve bought your registration, all events within the convention are free. The attendee list is small, and for the most part, everyone knows everyone. What I would like is an honor-system for event registration, so that once someone has registered for the convention, they could be presented with a series of events that they could simply check ‘yes’ to register for those events. I would then like to see a report ordered by event, with a list of everyone who’s signed up for each event.
As I noted on my previous feature request, I want to do this without requiring someone to create a WordPress account — this is just to give my event organizers rough ideas of how many people to schedule for.
I can suggest setting up the pages that handle the registration of the individual (or sub-events) to not display in the site navigation. So if you’re using Event Espresso to handle the registration for the convention, use the [SINGLE_EVENT] shortcode on a page to display the registration info/form and place that page in the site navigation.
Then include in the confirmation email to those who have registered for the convention a link to a page that lists these sub events. Event Espresso doesn’t have support for ‘checking yes’ to register for specific events, but you could use the Multi Event Registration add-on to allow these to be added to the cart. This method would get you the detailed reports.
An alternative method that could work would be to include the subevents on the main registration page as sub events, but the reporting lists would need to be sorted out using a spreadsheet application after being exported from Event Espresso.
