Hello, We are planning to migrate our WordPress site with another hosting provider. We are going to keep the domain name. Is there anything we should consider before migrating our site so that we have no problems with our events, registrations and payments that we have with Events Espresso? Everything we create with your plugin is stored in our WP website database? The migration will be done with plugins such as All in One WP Migration or Duplicator, so we are going to move all the files of our site and also our entire WordPress Website database will be copied. Thank you. WordPress: 5.3.2 |

Hi Brenna, Yes everything you create in Event Espresso is stored in your WordPress website database, so either of those tools will work just fine. A few things to consider before migrating would include: 1) It’s recommended to disable the registration for events just before starting the migration. This avoids any issues where the migration was started, then a few more registrations come in on the old site while the data is being transferred to the new site. Event Espresso has “Maintenance Mode” setting that can be used to temporarily shut down registrations. You’ll find that in Event Espresso > Maintenance. 2) You could possibly get a license key error after the change to the new host. There’s nothing to worry about this. If it happens please let us know and we’ll reset the license key. |

Thank you for reply. I have another question. When migrating our current site with another hosting provider, we will copy our complete site to an staging site where we will do some tests. In the meantime, we would like to still have our current site working with Event Espresso. Once we finish our tests and want our migrated site to go live, is there an easy way to import the new data added on our current site that has been working while we were testing on the staging site? |

It’s not an easy task to migrate partial data from one site to another and exclude the testing data. Tools like VersionPress make this possible, but it’s still not an easy way to merge data from two sites. |
