Hi,
I was told by a web developer the reason for my website crashing was due to event espresso recording too much data or the past year.. phone numbers, names, addresses.. He says the plugin is overloading itself making the site crash. It there maintenance that needs to be done? The site is elementsartcenter.com
I have done everything I can do to find the logs… I can’t seem to find the issues. It has crashed four times this month. This may be an issue with dreamhost too. I do know that when they rename my plugin folder the site responds again. The only plugin I have active is jetpack and event espresso. I am working with dreamhost to pull the logs to try and find the issue. So, there is no issue with old events/data causing the plugins to crash? The plugin profiler shows response time at .5 seconds…
So, there is no issue with old events/data causing the plugins to crash?
Not that we are aware of. Some of our customers run dozens of events with thousands of customers per year without issues.
If you are running a large number of events and have a large volume of customers, it is possible that some servers will not be able to handle the load. These servers are typically shared servers where resources (CPU power, memory, etc) are limited and shared between your site and others.
If that is the case, then you would want to consider discussing with your host about memory increase and possibly a more powerful server.
It would be useful to know your (approx) number of events and visitors in the past year, plus your server type (shared, VPS, dedicated) and also, of course, the error logs when they become available.
Any further information such as the web developers exact thoughts on the issues are also welcome.
That way we have a clearer picture of your situation and can advise from there.
