Jere is the link to the old issue. https://eventespresso.com/topic/whats-the-benefitdifference-in-default-registration-statuses/

Payment is going through yet Pending never changes to Approved. My client is really frustrated. How can I help her? Settings have not changed since my last post.

Thank you!
Shelly

Hi Shelly,

Can you let us know which payment methods are in use on this site?

The dreaded PayPal Standard only…

Can you verify whether the PayPal IPN (Instant Payment Notification) is getting sent by PayPal and received by your site?

I know she is getting mesages from PayPal when people pay for the classes, and the money is getting into her account…

Yes, that’s good that they’re getting the money, but what you’ll need to find out is whether or not PayPal is sending the information about the transaction to your website after the transaction takes place. The first step to find out is to go into the PayPal account and check for the IPN Setting. This setting needs to be enabled so if it’s not enabled, you will need to enable it. If it’s already enabled, you go to the IPN history and check to see if there are notifications being logged there for each time someone pays for an event registration.

Yes, We confirmed that PayPal is sending the information. Here is how she has figured out how to work around this: :
— Go to Pending Payment Registrations
— Click on a name
— Click on “Approved”
— Click on event
— Repeat process

Somehow a link between the registration and “Approved” has been broken thus banishing people to the pending payment registration list. Can this link be fixed?

She shouldn’t have to be doing this right?

The link between the registration and approved is the PayPal Instant Payment Notification. It’s good that you’ve confirmed that PayPal is sending it. Can you verify that your site is receiving it? There’s a log of the transactions in Event Espresso > Payment Methods > Logs. Do you see any Instant Payment Notifications in there?

Okay, that’s good info, can you check the transaction in Event Espresso > Transactions and the registration in Event Espresso > Registration that matches the information for that PayPal transaction?

I just learned that she manually approved that one. I’ve asked her to tell me next time she gets a registration (before she approves it) so I can look at the log…

If you have time to test, you could use a sandbox PayPal account and run a few registrations, then you’ll have some data to look at right away.

We updated all the plugins and the EE main plugin and now it’s working. However we are getting multiple emails per registration which was a problem we had before. I will look at that thread and maybe create a new topic.
