My site is running wordpress 3.7.1 and Event Espresso 3.1.35.2.P
I recently upgraded to this version of Event Espresso, however I had the same issue with the earlier version as well. I cannot share a link to the site because it is currently in development and I have restricted access.
The problem is that when a payment is completed for an event on the site, and the person is redirected to PayPal (this us using paypal standard, not pro) after they make the payment and they are redirected back to my site they receive the following warning:
“Although this page is encrypted, the information you have entered is to be sent over an unencrypted connection and could easily be read by a third party.
Are you sure you want to continue sending this information?”
Is there any way to prevent this warning besides securing some of those pages by getting SSL set-up, forcing HTTPS for those pages, etc…
I would prefer not to set-up SSL, and to find another simpler solution for removing this warning.
No, that option is not currently checked and I’m hoping to find a way of not setting up SSL and not requiring HTTPS.
Since there is actually NO credit card or paypal information being transmitted after the user has completed payment and returns to the website – I do not understand why this warning message is being displayed.
I don’t think there is another solution than to secure that Thank You page. We don’t have control over how PayPal redirects back to your site. One thing to note is that some browsers will display the message (like FireFox), while other browsers (like Chrome) will not display the message when going from http to https.
