I am having missing dates for waitlist emails for events that cover multiple days. I’m using EE version 4.10.40.p and EE wait lists version 1.0.2.p

the email wait list registrations get the email. I use [RECIPIENT_TICKET_LIST] to return the date for wait list event but doesn’t work for events longer than 1 day? the email obtains but the dates of the events don’t populate from shortcode. any help would be greatly appreciated!

thanks

Hi there,

This is going to depend on both your message template setup and your ticket/datetime setup within the event.

Can you link me to the event in question so I can take a look?

The [RECIPIENT_TICKET_LIST] shortcode calls the TICKET_LIST section in relation to the current recipient.

So if you look in TICKET_LIST for that message template you’ll see it calls [TICKET_NAME] and then [DATETIME_LIST]. Ticket name is the name set for the specific ticket being processed and [DATETIME_LIST] at that specific point calls the DATETIME_LIST section in relation to the datetimes linked to the ticket itself.

The shortcodes are then processed for that section based on each datetime linked to the ticket:

So it sounds like the ticket the user is registered onto is not linked to multiple datetimes within the event but I’ll need to see the event so I can check the setup. I can then recreate the event locally to see what is happening from there.

here is one link to an event that doesn’t return the event name and dates for waitlist.

Hmm, so with the same setup that event works on my test sites, however, your event currently is not sold out so I can test a waitlist registration on that one.

Do you have an event that is sold out so I can view the email?

If you edit your Waitlist notification message template (Event Espresso -> Messages -> Default Message Templates -> Registration Added To Wait List Notification -> Edit Registrant)

This is how the ATTENDEE_LIST, TICKET_LIST and DATETIME_LIST sections should look:

Oops,
here is a sold out event
https://ponoevents.com/wp/index.php/events/2023-deep-immersion-february-retreat/

I’m sending out plain text emails. I updated it to be the shortcodes in to TICKET_NAME, DATETIME_START AND DATETIME_END and still no shortcode info came in the email.

Can you expand a little on how you are sending Plain text emails through Event Espresso?

Can you add a screenshot showing the above?

I’ve tried various combinations of short codes in the main content box of the wait list message template (first attached image). I type my emails in visual mode thinking they go out as just text since that’s all i get when I do test registrations. I did notice that there is html in the EVENT_LIST section which I tried to delete and save but it keeps coming back. The ATTENDEE_LIST text box has nothing in it. The TICKET_LIST and DATETIME_LIST text boxes in the template have shortcodes and html in them but I don’t know how these affect the email. I have never received any html formatted emails through any of my custom emails thus making the assumption what goes out from main content section was just plain text.

Ok, so something strange is happening here.

Did you purposefully remove the HTML from the Main content or is that just how it was for you so you’ve worked with it?

This is how the default content should look:

The event list is like this:

Can you add a screenshot of the TICKET_LIST and DATETIME_LIST sections, please?

I’ve now started to experiencew problems with other custom email messages. Basically on all my custom messages I deleted all the HTML and just put the relevant shortcodes like PRIMARY_REGISTRANT_NAME and EVENT_LIST in the main content box with the text and that’s been working for quite a while. now not.

Strange, I put together a message template matching yours and I’m not running into any issues.

Can I take a look at the message template for this in the admin and see if anything stands out?

If so, please send temp login details using this form:

Thank you for the login details.

So I assume the issue here is with the ‘2023 Deep Immersion’ event?

Your ‘Default Message Template’ for the waitlist notification uses different content than your image, it is currently set to output the [EVENT_LIST] in place of the ticket list:

https://monosnap.com/file/zCtqj8lFhWOvbUsM86sEIfPx7OQeS1

That event is set to use the ‘Global’ template (aka the Default Message Template) which is why the details don’t populate.

I had a look over the messages triggered for one of your other events (which has the correct custom message template set) and those are generating as expected.

So on the above event, go to the notifications section. Within the ‘Registration Added To Wait List Notification’ dropdown, select the correct custom message template and save.

Waitlist notifications should now generate correctly for that event.

The other option is to change the ‘Default Message Template’ to use the correct shortcodes in the same way the custom one does, that way the default template (used by all events by default) will generate correctly for your setup.
