Hi, We just bought EE3 (Business Lic.) and I see when I create a new event there is a Event Status pulldown in the Event Options box. I thought if you put a limited number of seats for an event, that a waitlist would “kick in” after the last person registered for the last available seat. Now I’m not sure. When I click the “info” icon, it shows me: “This type of event can be hidden and used as a waiting list for a primary event. Template customizations may be required. For more information, please visit the forums” What exactly happens when I set an event to waitlist? I want an event to be public but to give people the availability to register on a wait list. |
Hi Jennifer, This is available in Event Espresso 3. As you described, after the first event is full, a backup or overflow event will accept registrations. This test event is full but has a waitlist event linked to it: https://eventespresso.com/testdrive/?ee=32785 Here are the steps to setup a waitlist event in Event Espresso: 1) Create your primary event and save changes 2) Create your waitlist/overflow event. Then set the event status to waitlist in the Event Options widget (right side of the screen in the Event Editor) and save changes to the event: http://cl.ly/image/0d0n292o380V 3) Now we need to link your waitlist/overflow event to your primary event. Go to the Event Overview page and click on your primary event. 4) Locate the Event Options widget on the right side of the screen and locate the waitlist option: http://cl.ly/image/3S2j0d0g0I1d Set assign a waitlist event to yes. Then select your waitlist/overflow event with the overflow event option underneath and save changes. Cheers — |

Hi Lorenzo, I’m following the steps you outlined in your reply, but am running into trouble. I created an event earlier. I set it to 20 attendees max. Then I tried to follow step 2. I went to create a new event. I get a prompt at the top of the page saying the event was created, HOWEVER, when I go to the Event Overview, all I see are the 2 events I had previously created. Since the waitlist event doesn’t show up in the Event Overview, I use my browswer’s back button to go back to the waitlist event page. I see that the title of the event has disappeared. All the other info I put in is still there (dates, times, venue, etc.) just the title is missing. I put in the title again and update the page. Despite this the waitlist event doesn’t show up anywhere in the Event Overview. Am I missing something? I haven’t done the other steps you listed in your reply yet because this thing has me stumped. |

More info: I went into Italian Night 1 and I DO see TWO waitlist events (I must have created duplicates) in the pulldown list. Is this how it’s supposed to work? Should I or should I not see waitlist events in the Events Overview? |
The event overview page shows active/ongoing events by default. You’ll need to toggle the event status to see other events with a different status. Once you have create a waitlist event, you’ll need to link it to your primary event. Have you already done that? — |
