Hi

I am trying to add a new event (actually copied from a previous event) and when I try to add text in the box it defaults to Text editor and not visual editor
When I click the Visual Editor tab nothing happens
Can anyone advise why this would be

Thanks

Hi there,

The Visual Editor tab relies on some JavaScript to function. If there’s a JavaScript error on the page, it will cause the breakage you’re seeing. Can you look at the console for JavaScript errors? You can also follow this guide:

Hi Josh

Thanks for the reply
I followed the tutorial and got it working but now something bizzare is happening

When I go in to the text box to type a description about the event, I then click update and everything disappears out of that box.

To check this I click both the text and visual tab and nothing and when I view the event it is not there

Any idea what is happening please

Thanks

Hello, you shared that you were able to resolve the visual editor issue. Were the errors that you previously appearing there no longer appearing or are there still errors.

What happens if you click-through to view and event through the events overview screen and then toggle between the text and visual tabs?

Hi Lorenzo

If I toggle between the tabs there is nothing there.

Each time I add text or images, then click update it just disapears

If I view the event it has not saved it

The issues with being able to switch between the Visual and Text tab has been resolved unless somehow this is linked?

Thanks and appreciate any help on this

Hi, do you see the same issue when only Event Espresso is running or have you recently installed any new plugins?

Are your plugins up to date? For example, if you’ve updated your site to WordPress 4.5, have you also updated the Visual Composer plugin to ver 4.11.2, which added compatibility with WP 4.5?

Hi

Visual Composer came bundled with the theme so I dont have an individual licence. I could try disabling it to see what happens?

I have just disabled the plugin and still have the same issue

The same question of are the other plugins up to date applies, beyond the Visual Composer plugin. This also applies to the theme.

One way to nail down what’s causing the issue is you temporarily deactivate all other WordPress plugins and temporarily switch to the default WordPress theme. A few notes on why this can help, and how:

1) Your site was updated to WordPress 4.5, but it remains to be seen if all of your theme and plugins are compatible with WordPress 4.5.
2) You can use the theme test drive plugin to change the theme for just you, the admin. The site will continue to use the OneTouch theme for everyone else.

I am wondering if it is indeed the visual composer plugin that is causing the issue as I have disabled it I am now longer able to switch between the Visual Tab and Text tab and any previous events only show in the Text Tab. I will see if I can get an updated plugin from the theme people
Thanks

I have gone back through all the plugins and deactivated one by one and the problem is still there.
On contacting the theme developer they tell me there are JS errors
Is there someway of finding out what is causing this please as I am still unable to type content in for an event.
Thanks and appreciate any help

The wp-admin/admin-ajax.php 503 (Service Temporarily Unavailable) error indicates that your host may have added a mod security rule that’s blocking admin-ajax.php. If you still see that error with no additional plugins activated and using the default WP theme, you’ll need to contact your host and let them know WordPress needs to access wp-admin/admin-ajax.php, and send the error message along.
