I have configured my site (connexions.world) with several events. I created a test event and successfully processed some test registrations. The messages all went out and were received properly. Now I want to send messages to the registered participant. I have mailchimp configured and can send messages that way, but I want to send messages only to registered participants in a specific event.

How do I go about sending messages to participants in a specific event?

Hi Bob,

You can use the Batch message type to send a batch message to a group of attendees. The Batch message template can be customized in the message templates editor. Then you go to view a list of registrations for an event, then check the box to check all attendees, then you click on the button that says Send Batch Message.

I just tried to generate and send a batch message to my test recipients, but got the message, “An error has occurred: The messages were not generated. This could mean…”, so I waited for five minutes and tried again, but I got the same error again. I don’t get any option to specify the message contents either.

The steps I am taking are:
1) Go to Message Activity
2) Filter to select only “Registration Approved” and “Registrant”
3) Select all three recipients (check the “To” box)
4) Set Bulk Actions to Generate, Generate and Send, Send Now (I tried all three)
5) Click Apply – and I get the error message.

I’m afraid those are not the steps to send a batch message. Instead, you go to the Registration list table, view the registrations for a specific event, select the registrations (check the boxes) then you click on the button that says Send Batch Message. After you click the Send Batch Message button, you can specify the message content.

Thanks, Josh. I followed those steps and got no error messages, but I also got no email messages. How do I configure and test the outgoing email?

You can go to Event Espresso > Messages and view the Messages Activity table to check on the status of the Batch messages. It can take some time before they are processed and sent.

You can configure and test batch emails by editing the Batch message templates in Event Espresso > Messages > Templates.
