Using event espresso decaf, how to install EE4 retail?

I don’t see an “upgrade” type function on the back end up my wordpress site, do I just install the downloadable EE4 package from the website? We are in the middle of a big event registration, how do I lose decaf and get EE4 without compromising my data and registrations?

Hi Daystar,

You can go to your site’s Event Espresso > General Settings and you’ll see a Support license key field there. You can get your license key from your account page, then copy/paste that key into the license key field, save, then you follow the prompts to upgrade from decaf to caffeinated.

Hi there,

So you’ve set your key within Event Espresso -> General Settings using Decaf and EE doesn’t show any update from within the Plugins menu?

Before moving forward create a database backup just to be safe, you can do this in various ways but here is a plugin I’ve used:

Your event data will not be removed we de-activating EE however it is always advisable to create a database backup before updating plugins. This is especially try if EE needs to run migrations on your event data depending on the version number you are currently using (if using the latest decaf there should be no migrations).

You can manually install EE by de-activating then deleting Decaf and then download the latest version of EE from your account page and upload through:

Dashboard -> Plugins -> Add new -> Upload plugin

Looks like it’s working! Thanks for the help.

The issue was: when I put in my Support license key, I didn’t see the little upgrade dialog it generated. It’s working great now.
