Hello, I am using a WordPress site with PHP 7.0 and Event Espresso 3, which is currently working. However, PHP 7.0 is set to no longer have security support by Dec 3, 2018. I want to upgrade to 7.1, but the PHP Compatibility Check is coming back with errors for Event Espresso and I have found mixed messages as to whether or not Event Espresso 3 will work on 7.1. Has it been tested? Will this require an upgrade to EE4? Thanks!
Thanks for reaching out. I have a local server that runs PHP7.1, and it has an older site that has the current version of Event Espresso 3. It seems fine, events can be added and registrations process as expected.
That said, it’s recommended to upgrade to EE4 as EE4 will have compatibility with WordPress 5.
It looks like after updating our site to WordPress 4.96 and updating to PHP 7.1, that the cart function is no longer working. When you go to open the cart, it says, “It looks like you are attempting to refresh a page after completing your registration or your cart is empty. Please go to the events page and try again.”
I reverted to PHP 7.0, which restored functionality to the cart. Any thoughts on what the issue might be?
I didn’t realize your site had Event Espresso 3’s Multi Event Registration add-on as well. There’s a bit of work to be done so that the Multi Event Registration plugin for EE3 can work with PHP 7.1.
