We are trying to use EE for an annual convention. There are many purchases to be made, in addition to convention attendance. There are tables for the exhibition floor, extra tickets to the banquet, children’s tickets, etc. Another very important part of the convention is purchasing individual classes by experts. They take place during the convention, but are sold separately.
This would not be an issue if the owners of the company didn’t want single-purchase capabilities, so we added these add-on purchases as additional Event Datetimes and Available Tickets.
I want to use the calendar add-on we purchased to show the courses, and use the capabilities of individual events to have images for each class.
Are we doing this correctly?
If so, can I add the individual classes as events and not sell tickets to them? I don’t want to split ticket sales between the event that contains the all-in-one purchase, but I want to have a nice looking calendar.
If not, is it possible to purchase numerous events in one transaction, like a cart system? I have not been able to find this capability.
I think the best way to do this would be to create an event for the classes, but disable the ticket selector.
That means they cant register for it.
Then you could add a link to the main event in the description or even add the ticket selector for the main event, using the shortcode [ESPRESSO_TICKET_SELECTOR event_id=”your_event_id”]
If you only want them to appear on the calendar and not actually be viewable, you could also set the Alternative Registration Page option to the main event’s url, so when they click the classes, they will be sent to the main event instead.
Those options are all found under Event Registration Options on the right hand side, when you create or edit an event.
