I have several custom fields in my event. There are certain pieces that are constant that can stay there when I duplicate an event. I am able to use ACF shortcode to call text into the content, but I can’t get it to allow me to use that text within HTML (to use as a link for a button, for example).

Is there an easy way to use the content of those custom fields without resorting to creating new templates? Or is that the only way I can use the content of those custom fields?

Hi there,

Strange, how are you calling the shortcode currently?

I’d like to test this locally to see what is happening so can you add some details of what you are doing with the above?

I was using the ACF shortcode, so for example, I want to create a link to a resume in the content of the meeting. I have a custom field called “resume” — if I use [acf field="resume"] it will add the text in that field to the content (which is a URL in a URL field), but I can’t use the shortcode in HTML. I know I can use PHP in the template, but I’m trying to avoid doing that and keep everything in the content so I’m not locked into the formatting.

If you’re planning to add shortcode, you can paste the code here.

If you still have problem, Can you walk us through the setup you have? You can use loom to do it.https://www.loom.com/

thanks

I was able to resolve this by using a code snippet plugin to give me access to PHP on the front end. It’s not a great solution, but it’s better than the alternative of having to keep up with separate templates. Thanks!

Awesome. Thanks. The first one is perfect for what I need.

It’s just doing this thing where it’s showing an HTML comment:

<!–
–>

after the attendee name.

Any ideas on why?
