Users Registering for Closed Events

from time to time, users would be able to sign up for events that have been marked as closed.

The user will sow up on the All Attendees list but will not show up as part of the Event list. Any ideas what is causing this issue?

Hi Nick,

Are you using Event Espresso 3 with the recurring events manager add-on? If so, you can check to see if they’ve registered for one of the other recurring events, which will have the same name as the closed events.

Hey Josh,

Thanks for the reply. We are using Event Espresso 3 but not the recurring event manager. Users are only signing up for single events at a time.

Hi Nick,

Can you check the closed event’s sale end date, to make sure that the sale end date is in the past. If the Event End date is in the past, but the sale end date is set to a future date, they’ll still be able to register for it.

Hey Josh,

Thanks for the response! I think you hit the nail on the head. How would I prevent users from signing up for a event once it’s closed?

Is there an option or any customization I can add?

Hi Nick,

Within your event you have a ‘Registration End’ date, that determines when the registrations will close on the event, so it sound like your registration end date has been set to a date after your event end date.

You want the registration end date to be set to either the start or end date within your event – http://take.ms/LIYoZ

Hey Tony,

Just to clarify, if I close an event in Espresso before the Registration End date will users still be able to register for an event.

It’s not clear how you’re closing an event, we’d need to know how before we can clarify.
