I was wondering what the options are for user roles for version 4. I will need to be able to give clients access to events and all administration to the events.
Worpress: 4.0.1
Event Espresso: 4.4.5 with no additional add-ons

Hi,
Right now it can be achieved via a membership plugin, but it will require the users to also be given access to the manage_options capability, which may not be suitable for your site (you might not want those users being able to change the core site settings).
Barring that, it will be a wait until 4.5 is released as that version will start providing more precise control via capabilities.
4.5 Beta is available in the pre release section of your account should you want to play about with it on a development site, but as always we do not recommend beta’s for actual production/live sites.

I guess I’m at a loss. There is no timeline for when 4.5 will be final, is there? I need to have this capability, but it’s only available in v3. If I do switch from 4 to 3, would that mean I have access to 4.5 when it comes out?

Hi Chad,
There are about 10 remaining issue tickets for Event Espresso 4.5. Once those have been closed out, we’ll perform additional testing, release the new software, and then announce the release on our blog.
If you purchase a support license for Event Espresso 3, then you’ll receive a copy of Event Espresso 4 and version 4.5 will be available on your account once that is available.
