Hi, We have a requirement for different users to be able to manage different sections of our WordPress site and I want to check if Event Espresso can handle different users being able to manage only certain categories of events.
We will most likely use the user roles system to achieve this in the rest of the site. If we cant limit by categories just being able to assign certain users / rolls to be able to edit certain events would suffice. Obviously the admin will be able to edit all of them.
This is possible in EE3 with the appropriate addons, but not in EE4 as yet.
In EE3 you can use the Roles & Permissions (RP) Basic and RP Pro addons (RP Pro requires RP Basic to be installed and active).
RP Pro allows you to give a user the Event Manager or Regional Manager roles (there is the Event Admin as well but that’s not suitable for your needs).
The Event Manager can create events and only access the events they made.
The Regional Manager is the same, but they can also access events given a certain Locale. The locale doesn’t need to be made public and can be pretty much anything, but it is separate from categories.
The plugin also allows you to limit what pages within Event Espresso the user can see (e.g. you might not want them to access you settings page).
Other WordPress pages would need to be allocated using a third party roles and capabilities management plugin.
