I’d like to know if there’s a way to replace the [EVENT_AUTHOR_FNAME] [EVENT_AUTHOR_LNAME][EVENT_AUTHOR_FORMATTED_EMAIL] shortcodes with one that points to a designation that uses the People Admin Add On?
For example, I have added several people in the People add-on, and designated some of them as “Event Organizers”, some as “Instructors”, and a couple as both. Since the person creating the events in EE is not necessarily the person I want attendees to contact if they have a question or issue, my desire is to have the individual identified as the Event Organizer be listed as the contact person.
Is there a way to pull/post that variable data into the message template?
The simple approach to this would be to change the Author setting for the event. In other words, anyone can add/edit the event, and if they set the Author setting to match the user account of the event’s organizer, then the email will have the correct information.
The other approach would be to build out some custom shortcodes by following this guide:
One of the challenges to this idea though, is the people add-on allows multiple people to be assigned to one event so you’d need to also impose some type of restriction to prevent assigning multiple event organizers to one event.
Josh – I totally overlooked the Author setting option. Indeed, that solves my need, no coding required. 😉
Thanks!
