URGENT: Paypal Pro payments not working

Wordpress 4, latest Event Espresso, recently upgraded, transportationclubofatlanta.com

My live test failed with an error of “This transaction cannot be processed due to an invalid merchant configuration.”

I got all the proper API info from Paypal. What’s the significance of the “Paypal Email” in the Pro setting page?

Any help would be awesome. Was supposed to go live with the event tomorrow!

Hi Matt,

Try these troubleshooting steps:

1) Is this a new merchant account from PayPal? If so, ensure that your account has been approved for production and that you are not using “testing” credentials.

1b) Next, check your required form fields in your merchant account. We have seen newer accounts have certain fields such as the Company Name set to required. Event Espresso does not use this field by default so this causes the order to decline.

2) Double-check your credentials and be careful of extra spacing before or after them. This can occur from copying and pasting them.

3) If both of the steps above do not help, then reset your API credentials again and update those into Event Espresso payment settings and save changes.

PayPal also requires a separate billing agreement for American Express. If all cards except for AMEX are working, then that is the cause.

Regarding the email, that should be the email for your PayPal account.

Was this ever resolved? I’m having the exact same issue with our setup. I have tried resetting my credentials – to no avail.

I also cannot find anywhere in Paypal where required form fields are set in Paypal.

Hi David,

Is this a new account?

Is the account a verified business account?

Are you using Paypal Pro or Standard (and using the relevant gateway for the correct account)?
