You (Tony I think it was) kindly help me before set up EE3 to send only one email confirmation which contained a link to all tickets.
This worked great and having spent weeks setting it all up and going live all of a sudden it started sending out multiple emails again to each registrant. Why after weeks of sending out only one email during testing it broke my heart after all the hard work that for some reason it stopped working.
After hours of checking and changing settings it seems that as soon as you set in General Settings “Send registration confirmation emails before payment is received?” to NO it sends out multiple emails instead of one.
We had only changed this setting prior to going live to avoid bookings for incomplete transaction being held on the system.
Can you please help urgently as I had just put this site live and have had to take it offline again and the client and customers who have been waiting on the tickets are not best pleased.
I know this is not your fault and it may just be some setting that needs changed but if you can help me out of this jam as soon as you can it would be most appreciated.
A quick explanation of your previous modifications. When using Multi Event Registration a variable is set to true within the registration pages ($multi_reg) which we then used to say when the emails should be single emails.
When you set “Send registration confirmation emails before payment is received?” to No you tell EE to ignore the email command it would normally use and use another hook within the payment_page to trigger the email. At this point, $multi_reg is not set and therefore is not used in the email function.
We had only changed this setting prior to going live to avoid bookings for incomplete transaction being held on the system.
Although the registration is created, by default they do not apply to the attendee limits for the event until payment is made. Within your events do you have the ‘Default Registration Status’ set to incomplete? (the default) if so that is how your events will work.
So if you have an event with 200 spaces, you could have 4000 registrations but if they are all incomplete (meaning unpaid) your event will still have all of the spaces available. Registrations are automatically set to Complete (which then apply to the event limits) once payment is made online.
So I would recommend setting “Send registration confirmation emails before payment is received?” back to Yes to use the modifications made previously.
