I currently have around 50 active events on my site. I am ready to add an additional 20 events. I would like to use the import feature but want to confirm that uploading a file named events.csv will not overwrite my existing 50 classes. Can anyone confirm this? I know it may sound silly but I’d hate to find out that the events.csv must always contain all of your events after the fact. Many thanks.
The import feature will add events. To get a template, go to the Event overview page in the WordPress admin and hover over an event name and click on export.
Then you make changes to your file locally and import it through the WordPress admin to see how it works.
Thanks Lorenzo. A followup question: I used the template but it did not successfully add my events. I did note that the instructions state to use YYYY-MM-DD format for dates but when excel Saves As csv it converts them to another format. I tried several things to no avail. I use Mac version of Excel…is there a workaround? Also, I assume I cannot have commas in my event descriptions?
Excel (for Windows at least) will auto convert the look of the dates back to a 01/01/1970 style, but so long as you have entered them as 1970-01-01 it should be fine.
Commas are allowed in the event description.
Is it possible to get a copy of the spreadsheet you have used, that way we can see whether there are any issues. Feel free to email it to supoort@eventespresso.com if you need to but include a link to this forum post in your email.
