On the weekend, I upgraded from 3.1.36.2p to the latest EE4 and it was not successful. All the steps seemed to work ok, there were warnings in my migration about missing objects, but it seemed to only be for past, deleted events. I only had 2 active events and only 1 with registered attendees and these seem to have migrated successfully. However, the display of the event was not correct. When I did “view event” it showed what was mostly a standard WP post. There was no form for registration and no button to submit the registration. I tried to revert back to EE3 by deactivating EE4 and activating EE3 but all I saw in the event was a shortcode as text (I assume it was EE4-specific therefore was not rendering in EE3) and I had to restore my website and mysql from backup. I am going to try again this morning. I was wondering if there are known issues with the upgrade? |

I should mention, my hosting provider has us on PHP 5.2.17 which I get a warning about from EE4. However, it says “recommends 5.3+” so I assume EE4 still works or else it would be a hard error? |
Hi Andrew, The warning will continue until you switch to a higher version of PHP (5.3 and up). Your web host should be able to help you with this. When you upgraded earlier, did you make any changes to the shortcodes that are used for Event Espresso 4? — |

understood. I have previously asked my host to upgrade but, being shared hosting, they are reluctant as it obviously affects all their customers, not just me. Is there any indication about *what* the impact is?
Going by the revisions history of the event page, when the event got migrated to EE4 it changed the shortcode from: since EE4 isn’t displaying properly for me, I have deactivated it, activated EE3 and reverted the page back to |
Hi Andrew, Certain areas of Event Espresso will not work as expected. If your host can’t move you to an updated version, then I recommend staying on EE3 for a bit longer. Then you can follow up with them later this month. If they still won’t allow you to switch or relocate you to a server that has PHP5.3, then I would do some research into finding another webhost. WordPress SEO could hide the ticket selector if you have the FB open graph option enabled. Are you using this plugin on your site? Also, you can get your own demo site for Event Espresso 4 here It will make the transition to version 4 easier if you take a look at the various pages and try to create an event. — |
