Hi, I’ve purchased the EE3 Premium Business License and want to know how best to upgrade from the currently installed Lite version of 3 running our current events and calendar.
Is it simply a matter of running the zipped files as plugins in WP so they ‘overwrite’ existing ones? Will all the DB data for previous events and current/upcoming ones remain intact and be picked up by Premium? I’ll back everything up naturally – just curious how to go about upgrading best and most safely.
Also, add on features such and recurring events/multiple ticket bookings etc – are they all treated as separate plugins to install and activate?
As you’ve mentioned, the first step is to create a working backup of the site currently (just to be safe)
Then download the plugins from Your Account page. Go to your site de-activate and delete the current version of Event Espresso (lite) and then upload & activate the premium version of the plugin. You can do this whichever way you are comfortable, via FTP or the Plugins -> Add New -> Upload.
The Premium version of EE will NOT overwrite the Lite version so you must ensure you delete the previous version (or you’ll encounter a ‘Cannot re-declare function’ error)
All of your events/setting are saved within the database so will be available within the Premium version.
As for the Add-on’s, yes they are all treated as separate individual plugins.
If you have any further questions just let us know.
