When I upgraded from EES 3 to EES 4 the events did not follow. I had to upload the EES 4 zip file, which may have been why. When I try to import the csv file of events I had exported from version 3 into 4 I just get error messages. What is the proper way to get my events into the new version?

Hi John,

Which version of Event Espresso 3 are you migrating from?

3.1.36.5.P to 4.2.4

Thanks

Hi John,

It turns out that you do not manually export them from ee3 and manually import them into ee4. EE4 has this covered.

What you can do follows:

1) You backup your database.
2) You deactivate Event Espresso 3.
3) You activate Event Espresso 4.
4) Event Espresso 4 will detect there is event data and take you to a maintenance page, where it will ask you if you want to migrate your data, where you can answer Yes and click the start button.

It did not bring me to a maintenance page, just a welcome screen. Is there a way to access that page manually?

Yes, there is a Event Espresso > Maintenance menu item under “Extras”. What you may need to is go to the Reset/Delete Data tab there and reset Event Espresso 4’s data and then reactivate again.

I just want to double check – this will not remove the information from the version 3 will it? If not I will try this.

Thank you

That’s correct. When you reset the Event Espresso 4 data, it only resets the data in the Event Espresso 4 tables. Event Espresso 3 data is stored in its own tables, and the two plugins use a different set of options stored in the wp_options table.

Thanks, that solved it.
