After upgrade was run and click on Maintenance page to complete DB upgrade from message “As part of the process for updating Event Espresso, your database also needs to be updated. Event Espresso is in COMPLETE MAINTENANCE MODE (both WordPress admin pages and front-end event registration pages are disabled) until you run the database update script. Visit the Maintenance Page to get started, it only takes a moment.”

I get the following error when going to maintenance page:
Fatal error: Uncaught RuntimeException: Event Espresso Level 2 Maintenance mode is active. That means EE can not run ANY database queries until the necessary migration scripts have run which will take EE out of maintenance mode level 2. Hi there,

I have replied directly via your support token for this, the fatal error being thrown should now be fixed and the migration should work as expected.

I’ve run the upgrade and took of maintenance mode. I am now getting the following error when I’m clicking on an event.

Fatal error: Uncaught RuntimeException: Base 64 decoding failed because the supplied string is not valid or was not base64 encoded. in /home/customer/www/floridaadoptioncouncil.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso-core-reg/core/services/encryption/Base64Encoder.php:132 Stack trace: #0 /home/customer/www/floridaadoptioncouncil.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso-core-reg/core/services/encryption/Base64Encoder.php(61): EventEspresso\core\services\encryption\Base64Encoder->isValidBase64OrFail(‘a:11:{s:2:”id”;…’) #1 /home/customer/www/floridaadoptioncouncil.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso-core-reg/core/EE_Session.core.php(978): EventEspresso\core\services\encryption\Base64Encoder->decodeString(‘a:11:{s:2:”id”;…’) #2 /home/customer/www/floridaadoptioncouncil.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso-core-reg/core/EE_Session.core.php(1071): EE_Session->_save_session_to_db(true) #3 /home/customer/www/floridaadoptioncouncil.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso- in /home/customer/www/floridaadoptioncouncil.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso-core-reg/core/services/encryption/Base64Encoder.php on line 132

Any recent changes to the server?

The above is from the session encoding option within Event Espresso:

Event Espresso -> General Settings -> Admin options.

Setting ‘Encode Session Data?’ to No and saving has fixed that for me, it looks like your server is missing the functions to base64 encode so I’m wondering if this is a recent change?
