Updating class settings, Returning Users, Checkout cart process

1. Status of classes
The current setting is the default setting of “pending registration.” So, if someone goes in and registers but does not complete the registration process, they are listed for class as “pending registration” and they are taking up a slot without paying. We want them to have to pay to have their slot. So if there are 10 slots in a class, and 8 people pay and 2 do not (listed as pending registration), all 10 slots are taken and that is what we do not want. The other setting options are approved or not approved. In the context of what we are trying to do, the descriptions for all the settings are confusing, and I’m not even 100% sure that this is where we set it to do what we are trying to do. We set it on “not approved” hoping if someone didn’t pay, that is how they would show up, and they would not hold a slot, but that did not appear to work.

2. Returning users registering for classes
When I logged in as the participant, her old registrations showed up first thing (registrations from prior years). I had to go into “L3X” on the top bar to get to where I could register her for her L3X classes. If this can’t be fixed, we need to make a note on this page that directs them to do that! Until this is fixed, if you have any calls about this, just direct them to do that.

3. Checkout cart process
Next, after I got the first event in her cart and hit the one that takes you back to adding classes (not the “proceed to registration,”), it takes you to ALL events ever. The registrant has to go into the filter button above and scroll to “L3X 2022.” Again, something that needs to be fixed and if it can’t be fixed, we need to add something very obvious that directs people to do this.

Hi there,

1. Status of classes

‘Approved’ registrations are the registrations that apply to your sold value, within EE, registrations with a status of ‘Approved’ can be considered ‘sold’.

‘Pending Payment’ registrations do not apply to your sold values, with the exception of when they are first registered and placed into the ‘reserved’ list.

‘Not Approved’ is basically a way of running a ‘pre-approval’ function, so your users register and need to meet specific requirements before being allowed to pay and attend, you can use Not Approved. Registrations top after entering their details and wait for the admin to change the status to something else (usually you should change those to Pending Payment, some people change them to Approved). I’ve explained this status because you’ve mentioned it, but from your requirements, you can dismiss using it, it does not do what you need.

In your case, you should use ‘Pending Payment’ as the Default Registration Status. That works in the way most people would expect ‘e-commerce’ to work, Pending Payments don’t apply to the sold values until the amount owed is equal to the amount paid, at that point the registrations switch to Approved because there is no payment pending anymore.

I mentioned above that Pending Payment registrations are added to a reserved function and to explain that, lets say you have 2 tickets left and I select those 2 tickets…. now, I’m a little slow and sometimes it takes me a little to add my details, wonder around the house checking the fridge to find my ban card and input the details on the payment step etc.

If we didn’t have a reservation system in place, Mr Quick comes along whilst I’m checking the fridge for my card, selects those tickets, inputs his card details… he’s quicker than me by a couple of minutes or so and purchases those tickets.

Now I click the pay button, but I’m already on the payment providers site, I pay, it goes through and now I’ve just purchased 2 tickets, but they had already gone!

Who gets those tickets? Its not as simple as EE should just check before payment because you may be on the payment providers site, we can’t check from there etc.

So, we have a reservation system in place, my tickets are added to the reserved list for the duration of my session (which by default is 1 hour) and the sold count at any time is Approved (sold) + reserved tickets to account for that.

In short, a default registration status ‘Pending Payment’ is what 90% of users ‘should’ use.

2. Returning users registering for classes

I can’t view this as we don’t have access to your site.

Can you add some screenshots showing this, please?

3. Checkout cart process

The ‘return to event list’ button URL can be changed, but where would you like for them to be redirected?

I assume it wont always be the page mentioned? So just the ‘previous’ page they came from?
