Went to WordPress Dashboard => Plugins and hit “update” in order to update to EE4.2.

The update failed and then the plugin disappeared completely from the WordPress Plugins area.

I tried to upload the plugin .zip file but wordpress told me the destination folder already exists. How do I update to the latest version of EE4.2 without losing our events and settings?

Thanks

Hi Danny,

Firstly I would recommend creating a full site backup (just to be safe). We have a guide posted here:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-back-up-your-site/

If it is no longer displayed within the Plugins area it will need to be manually removed from the plugins folder of the site, then you can manually upload EE4.

You’ll need either FTP access or access to cPanel (to use the File Manager available through that)

Go to wp-content/plugins/ and you should find a directory called event-espresso-core-reg

Delete that (be sure you delete only that directory)

Then go back to your Plugins section on the dashboard and manually upload the latest version of Event Espresso, you could also do it via FTP although it will take longer.
