Hello,
Yesterday, I update your plug-in on my Word press site which caused my website to crash for several hours, until my webmaster fixed it. It cost me $100.00. I am asking for some type of credit because of this. I have provided a link to proof of the error and my paid invoice for her services. Thank you for your consideration.
When seeking help with this issue, you may be asked for some of the following information:
WordPress version 6.2.2
Active theme: Divi (version 4.19.4)
Current plugin: Event Espresso (version 5.0.7.p)
PHP version 7.4.33
The error you encountered is a conflict with other plugins ALSO using GraphQL, not a deficiency or bug in our plugin only. This is caused because WordPress doesn’t offer any kind of dependency manager for plugins to use among each other, so each plugins has to do the dependency management itself, which inevitably leads to conflicts like this happening.
We are aware of the situation, but again, WordPress does not provide any framework for managing the shared code that is used by tens of thousands of plugins. We do not and cannot guarantee against conflicts with other plugins, but instead we recommend website owners take the proper precautions for maintaining a website.
A safer way to update your site is to create a staging/test site where you can test changes before updating your live site. That way you find and fix problems that may exist before it creates a problem on your live site.
