I just updated from 3.1.34.1 to Version 3.1.36.1.P and am using WP 3.8. This is a test site so I am not using the site license as recommended. I updated manually by uploading the zip package through WP. I am getting the following error: Warning! Please advise on what to do. Thanks! |

Hi, Have you previously installed version 4.0 (alpha/beta) on that server? That’s what the error message is suggesting, as we added a warning message to the latest version in anticipation of releasing 4.0 in the near future. If you have previously installed 4.0 on that server then the database structure will be different and incompatible with downgrading to 3.1.x, as such you will need to reset the database to default (this will wipe EVERYTHING) or use a fresh install. A handy (but dangerous) plugin called WP Reset can be used to reset the site back to first install defaults. Please advise if you have never installed version 4.0 on that site. |

Hi Dean, we did install the 40. beta version a couple months back but got the same message so we deleted it, wiped the tables from the database and resintalled the 3.x version. We have been successfully using 3.1.34.1 for the past 6 weeks. Why would we get this error when upgrading from 3.1.34.1 to 3.1.36.1.p? These are both 3.x versions. |
Hi, The reason you previously did not see the error is 3.1.34.1 did not check previous versions, 3.1.36+ checks previously installed versions in preparation for newer EE versions (which have a vastly different db schema) So you removed all tables EE tables from the DB and re-installed EE3? Are you confident with phpmyadmin or similar? |

Ok, I gotcha. I removed the EE tables as the warning suggested so I could run the beta 4.0 version but even after removing the tables I was still getting the warning so I just reinstalled the 3.x version. I am confident with phpmyadmin. I’m not a programer but I understand how to drop tables and edit data. What do you recommend to get me up and running with 3.1.36.1.p? |

The reason you are seeing the error message is that there is a version number stored in the wp_option ‘espresso_db_update’ that is greater than 3.2. If you delete that option from the db, you will stop seeing the warning. |

Thanks Sidney, that resolved the issue. I was able to activate 3.1.36.1.p. Will I be good to go now once the 4.0 version is released? |
