I updated EE4, but the multi event registration add on will not activate. What do I need to update? Please see this error message: The Event Espresso “Multi_Event_Registration” addon was deactivated because it is incompatible with this version of core.
Only version 2.0.11.rc.002 or higher of “Multi_Event_Registration” can run with this version of core. This can happen when attempting to run beta versions or release candidates with older versions of core, or running old versions of addons with a newer version of core.
Please upgrade Event Espresso Core and the “Multi_Event_Registration” addon, then re-attempt activating it.

What what wrong is the MER plugin didn’t get updated along with the core plugin. The current version of EE is not compatible with the older version of MER. You can avoid this by updating them at exactly the same time (check the boxes on the WP plugins page, then select Update).
You can delete the older MER plugin and download the new version’s zip file from your account page.

Thanks for the info. And just to be sure, when I delete the MER plugin “and all if its data,” that will not get rid of the events themselves, right?

You’re actually not deleting any data when you delete the MER plugin. The part of the message that WP displays in a pop up when you go to delete an Event Espresso plugin, incorrectly mentions deleting data. Data is not deleted by deleting the plugin files.
