Earlier today, I tried updating from version 4.6.19.p to 4.8.43.p (by clicking “update now” in the WP plugins screen). The update appeared to be successfully applied, but when I looked at my site I found that the events list (generated using the Event Espresso Upcoming Events widget) had disappeared. When I tried to access the Events list from the WP admin, I got a message saying I did not have “sufficient permissions” to view that page.
I have rolled back to 4.6.19.p for the time being and the events are visible again. What might have caused this issue and what steps should I take before/after updating again to solve it? (My WordPress version is 4.5.2.)
The permissions issue sounds like a separate issue and would normally be corrected by going to Event Espresso > Maintenance > Reset and you click on the button that says Reset Event Espresso Capabilities.
Did you check to see if the Upcoming Events Widget was still activated on the WordPress > Appearance > Widgets screen?
No, I didn’t check that. Will do next time I try updating, as well as resetting Event Espresso Capabilities if the permissions issue rearises. Thanks for your help.
Was the widget disabled or did resetting the permissions fix it?
